I often have to sing it to myself to figure out the order of the states to see what comes next in our study of the United States. I still remember the alphabetical state song I learned in elementary in 1985. Children are like sponges and they have the ability to memorize facts about the 50 States of America much better than adults do. When my youngest was only four years old I taught her where each state was – before she could even read. While my kids have not traveled all over the United States, they are familiar with a map of the U.S. I have come across many adults who have no idea where a particular state is located on the map.
